Etown Buries Susquehanna, 107-79, to Improve to 7-1

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Playing its final home game of the semester, Elizabethtown steamrolled past Commonwealth Conference rival Susquehanna, 107-79, to improve to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference. It was the Blue Jays' fifth consecutive win. Susquehanna falls to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the Commonwealth with the loss.

Susquehanna began the game on top with a three-pointer by Chris Zimmerman to take a 3-0 lead at 19:46, but after a layup by Jon English (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Township) at 19:41 and a jumper by Chad Heller (New Holland, PA/Garden Spot) at 19:07, the Blue Jays held a 4-3 lead which Etown would not relinquish.

By the time Bob Porambo (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) hit a jumber at 13:26, the Blue Jays had stretched their lead to 20-10. By halftime, Etown held a 53-32 lead.

English led Elizabethtown with 23 points and nine rebounds, and three other Etown players had point totals greater than ten. Porambo scored 16 points and pulled in seven rebounds, Brian Loftus (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) scored 15, had four assists, and grabbed seven rebounds, and Heller led the team with six assists and four steals while scoring 14 points and pulling down seven rebounds.

Zimmerman led Susquehanna with 18 points and six rebounds.

Elizabethtown returns to action on the road Saturday, December 15 against regional rival Gettysburg. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
