ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL
Etown Defeats Gettysburg, 88-64, Jon English 11 Points Shy of 1,000
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 7-4 overall in 2002-03 with an 88-64 home win over Gettysburg (6-7) Wednesday night.
Sophomore Kyle Conrad (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) came off the bench to lead Elizabethtown in scoring with 17 points. Conrad shot four-for-seven from the field, made his only three-point attempt, and was eight-for-eight from the free throw line.
Senior center Jon English (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Township) scored 16 points on a six-for-eight performance from the field, bringing his career total to 989, making him 11 points shy of becoming the 28th player in Etown history to reach the 1,000 career point plateau.
Chad Heller (New Holland, PA/Garden Spot) scored 15 points on seven-for-11 shooting and had five rebounds for Etown. Ian Daecher (Lititz, PA/Warwick) added 10 points and led the Blue Jays with six rebounds, as well as tying for the team lead with four assists.
Gettysburg's top scorer was David Glaser, who totaled 18 points, with 16 of them coming in the first half alone.
Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Saturday, January 11 against Shenandoah University in an 8:00 p.m. game.
