ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL Etown Falls to Shenandoah, 86-76, Jon English Goes over 1,000 Point Plateau WINCHESTER, Va. --- Elizabethtown senior Jon English (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Township) became the 28th 1,000 career point scorer in the history of the men's basketball program Saturday. Unfortunately for the team as a whole, the Blue Jays fell to host Shenandoah 86-76 to drop to 7-5 overall. Shenandoah improved to 7-2 overall with the win. English scored 18 points and pulled down ten rebounds to lead the Blue Jays in both categories, and he increased his career point total to 1,007. Chad Heller (New Holland, PA/Garden Spot) added 13 points to the Blue Jays' efforts on six-for-13 shooting from the field, and Brian Loftus (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) scored 11 points and posted a team high of five steals. Chad Brashears led Shenandoah with 15 points, Tyson Thompson added 14 points, and Halston Camp and Michael Atkins each scored 12 points for Shenandoah. Etown shot just 38.0% (27-for-71) from the floor, while Shenandoah shot 29-for-58 from the floor. Etown will resume its Commonwealth Conference season in its next game Tuesday, January 14 on the road against Moravian in an 8:00 p.m. game. 1/11/03 4:00 at Shingleton Gymnasium, Winchester, Va. |
