Etown Head Coach Bob Schlosser Gets 200th Career Win in 105-67 Victory over Albright
READING, Pa. --- Elizabethtown college head men's basketball coach Bob Schlosser got the 200th victory of his collegiate coaching career Saturday night as the Blue Jays stormed past Commonwealth Conference rival Albright, 105-67, on the road. It was Etown's third straight win, improving the Blue Jays' record to 10-6 overall and 4-2 in the conference, while Albright falls to 3-11 overall and 2-4 in the Commonwealth.
Etown opened the game with an 11-0 run and held a 50-27 lead by halftime. The Blue Jays forced 28 Albright turnovers and got 16 steals over the course of the game while committing just 17 turnovers themselves. Etown also out-rebounded Albright 44-34 and shot 39-for-75 from the field (52.0%) against 24-for-63 (38.1%) for Albright.
Jon English (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Township) and Kyle Conrad (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) led five Blue Jay players in double-digit scoring with 14 points each. Conrad hit four of five shots from the field, both of his three-point attempts, and all four of his free throws, while English also led the team in rebounding with eight boards. Andrew Flynn (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West) scored 13 points on five-for-eight shooting, pulled down six rebounds and had four assists. Dan Keane (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) and Chad Heller (New Holland, PA/Garden Spot) both scored 11 points, and Heller had seven rebounds. Brian Loftus (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West), having recently moved to more of a point guard role than in the past, led Etown with six assists and four steals while scoring eight points and pulling down six rebounds.
Trevor Deeter was Albright's leading scorer with 16 points, and he also led the Lions with nine rebounds. Terron Buchanan added 15 points, Elu Lawrence scored 12 points, and Aziz Brown added 11 points for Albright. Albright's bench contributed just nine points, as opposed to the 60 points that came from Etown's bench.
Elizabethtown will return to action Tuesday, January 28 at home against Messiah in a 7:30 p.m. game.
