Juniata Stuns Etown, Blue Jays Fall 81-72 in Commonwealth Conference Game

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- Juniata shocked Elizabethtown with an 81-72 victory in Huntingdon Saturday night. The Blue Jays drop to 13-7 overall and 7-3 in the Commonwealth Conference with the loss, while Juniata improves to 11-9 overall and 6-4 in the conference with the win.

Despite shooting 60.0% (15-for-25) from the field in the first half, Elizabethtown trailed Juniata 39-38 at halftime. Juniata out-rebounded Etown 31-24, and the Blue Jays turned the ball over 23 times against 19 turnovers for Juniata. Juniata also made 22 of 26 free throws, while the Blue Jays received just 11 shots from the free throw line and made seven of them.

Jon English (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Twp.) was Etown's leading scorer with 17 points on seven-for-eight shooting from the field and a three-for-four performance from the free thow line. Brian Loftus (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) scored 15 points while going six-for-nine from the field and three-for-six from downtown. Jon Connor (Hershey, PA/Hershey) added 12 points on five-for-nine shooting from the field and a two-for-four performance from behind the three-point arc.

Craig Biller was Juniata's leading scorer with 19 points, Travis Martin added 15 points, and Neil Holloway added 10 points for the Eagles.

Etown will host Moravian in its next game, Tuesday, February 11 at 8:00 p.m.
