ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL Jon Connor Scores 27 Points as Etown Downs York, 99-84, in York Invitational Consolation Game YORK, Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 3-2 overall in 2003-04 with a 99-84 victory over York College in the consolation game of the York Invitational Sunday afternoon. York dropped to 0-5 overall with the loss. The Blue Jays led 44-38 at the half, and they out-scored York 55-46 in the second half. Etown shot 61.0% (36-for-59) from the floor for the game. Jon Connor (Hershey, PA/Hershey) led the Blue Jay offense with 27 points, including a 10-for-15 performance from the field and a five-for-seven effort from three-point range. Kyle Conrad (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) added 20 points and a team-high of five assists, and Ian Daecher (Lititz, PA/Warwick) led the Blue Jays in rebounds with 11 while scoring 12 points on a five-for-six effort from the field. Andrew Flynn (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West) came off the bench for Etown and shot five-for-seven from the field en route to scoring 12 points. Brandon Bushey led York in scoring with 24 points, and he made five of six three-point attempts. T.J. Cioffi came off the bench for York to shoot eight-for-14 from the field and score 18 points, and Steve Sohmehl scored 10 points for the Spartans. Etown will return to action in its first Commonwealth Conference game of the season Wednesday, December 3 on the road against Susquehanna, last year's conference runner-up and the favorite to win the conference title in this year's coaches' poll, at 8:00 p.m. 11/30/03 1:00 pm at Charles Wolf Gym-York, PA |
