Blue Jays Blow out Scranton, 102-65, Make 20 Steals

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College scored its biggest win of the 2003-04 season Wednesday night with a 102-65 home blowout of the University of Scranton. The victory improves Etown to 4-4 overall, while Scranton drops to 1-6 with its fifth consecutive loss.

Etown cruised to a 46-32 halftime lead as Scranton turned the ball over 19 times in the first half. Although Scranton turned the ball over just nine times in the second half, the Blue Jays shot 54.3% (19-for-35) from the field to out-score the Royals 56-33 in the second half. Over the course of the game, Etown swiped the ball 20 times.

Jon Connor (Hershey, PA/Hershey) unleashed a dominating performance for Etown, leading the team in points with 23, assists with six, and steals with eight while shooting nine-for-13 from the floor and four-for-six from three point range. Dan Keane (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) scored 14 points, shooting five-for-seven from the field and four-for-five from the charity stripe. He and Andrew Flynn (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West) each led Etown in rebounds with five, and Flynn added 11 points. Greg Adams (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon) also scored 11 points for Etown, made four steals, and tossed out four assists.

Matthew Snyder (Scranton, PA/Lansdale Catholic) was Scranton's top scorer with 13 points, and Mike Kreuter (Penllyn, PA/Shipley) added 11 points for the Royals.

Etown will return to action on the road against King's College (Pa.) Friday, December 19. Due to work currently being done in the King's gym during winter break, the game will be held nearby at Wilkes University instead. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
