Elizabethtown Falls to DeSales in Tournament Championship Game, Jon Connor & Kyle Conrad Named to All-Tournament Team

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College fell 69-64 in the championship game of the DeSales University Casa Mia Holiday Tournament Saturday as the tournament hosts edged out the Blue Jays in the game's closing minutes.

Elizabethtown led 38-29 at halftime and 64-63 with 2:06 left to go in the game when DeSales' David Spadt was fouled and sank both his free throws to pull the Bulldogs ahead 65-64. The only other scoring for the rest of the game came at 14 seconds and five seconds left, as both times DeSales' Michael Venafra was fouled and sank both his free throws.

Two Elizabethtown players – seniors Jon Connor (Hershey, PA/Hershey) and Kyle Conrad (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) – were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Conrad and Dan Keane (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) each led Etown in scoring against DeSales with 13 points. Andrew Flynn (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West) scored 10 points and led Elizabethtown in rebounds with 12 and in assists with five. Connor tallied 10 points as well.

Venafra led DeSales in scoring with 21 points. Drew Christman added 14 points and Mike Zinn chipped in 12 for the Bulldogs. Spadt was DeSales leading rebounder with six, and he totaled eight points.
