Moravian Edges Etown 85-82 in Overtime, Blue Jays' Kyle Conrad Nets 1,000th Career Point

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's basketball team dropped its second Commonwealth Conference game in a row Tuesday night, falling 85-82 in overtime on the road against Moravian College. Etown drops to 9-8 overall and 3-3 in the conference with the loss, while Moravian improves to 5-12 overall and 3-3 in the conference.

The Blue Jays held a 40-27 lead at halftime, but the game was tied 73-73 at the close of regulation time. Etown sank 16 out of 26 free throws (61.5%) and shot 29-for-65 (44.6%) from the field for the game, while Moravian shot 26-for-34 from the free throw line (76.5%) and 26-for-60 (43.3%) from the field. Moravian turned the ball over 20 times against 17 turnovers for Etown, and the host Greyhounds out-rebounded Etown 40-38.

With 8:48 left in regulation time, Etown senior forward Kyle Conrad (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) became the 29th Blue Jay ever to total 1,000 points in a career. Conrad entered the game needing 15 points to hit the milestone, and he finished the game with a team-leading total of 21 points, shooting 6-for-12 from the field, 4-for-9 from three-point range, and 5-for-8 from the free throw line.

Andrew Flynn (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West) was Etown's only other player to reach double figures in scoring as he totaled 15 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the field and 5-for-7 shooting from the free throw line. He also led Etown in rebounds with eight and tied for the team lead in assists with five. Brian Schreiber (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro) came off the benchh to total nine points and seven rebounds for Etown.

Steve Wenderfer scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Moravian in both scoring and rebounding. Zach Zsilavecz added 20 points for Moravian, and Brandon Zaleski totaled 15 points and six rebounds. Michael Clemente added 11 points for Moravian.

Etown will return to action Saturday, January 29 at home against Albright College in a 4:00 p.m. Commonwealth Conference game.
