Elizabethtown Defeats Penn College of Technology 108-64; Scranton Downs Washington (Md.) 75-42, on Opening Night of Kistler Buildings Blue Jay Classic

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College opened its 2004-05 season with a 108-64 victory over Penn College of Technology at home Friday night in the opening round of its Kistler Buildings Blue Jay Classic tournament. In the tournament's other game Friday, the University of Scranton defeated Washington College (Md.) 75-42, thereby setting up Saturday's pairings of Washington vs. Penn College at 1:00 p.m. in the consolation game and Elizabethtown vs. Scranton in the championship at 3:00 p.m.

Elizabethtown cruised out to an early lead against Penn College and by halftime held a commanding 55-24 advantage. Kyle Conrad (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) and Jon Connor (Hershey, PA/Hershey) both led Etown in scoring with 20 points each, as Conrad hit four three-pointers and went 8-for-16 from the field, and as Connor went 9-for-15 from the field and made a pair of three-pointers. Forward Andrew Flynn (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West) was Etown's leading rebounder with nine boards, and he led the team in assists with five while scoring 12 points. Brian Schreiber (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro) came off the bench to score 12 points for Etown in just nine minutes of playing time, going six-for-seven from the floor.

O'Dell Jones was Penn College's leading scorer with 14 points. Penn College committed 31 turnovers over the course of the game, while Etown turned the ball over 25 times. The Blue Jays held a 54-31 advantage in rebounding over Penn College as well.
