ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL Elizabethtown Improves to 3-1 with 85-72 Road Win over Haverford HAVERFORD, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's basketball team improved to 3-1 overall Sunday with an 85-72 non-conference road win over Haverford College (1-3). Etown held a 40-34 lead at halftime after hitting five of its six first-half three point attempts and making nine of 12 free throws. Haverford, by contrast, made just one of seven attempts from behind the arc, and the Fords hit five of eight free throw shots. Both teams shot 50% from the field in the first half, with Etown making 13 of 26 attempts and Haverford making 14 of 28 attempts. Etown shot 59.3% from the field in the second half as the Blue Jays converted 16 of 27 shots, and they hit three out of four three point attempts and went 10-for-12 from the free throw line. Over the course of the whole game, Etown made 80% of its attempted three pointers (8-for-10). Junior forward Brian Schreiber (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro) was Etown's leading scorer with 18 points. He did not miss a single shot the entire game, going 5-for-5 from the field, 2-for-2 from behind the arc, and 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Senior center Dan Keane (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) and sophomore guard Greg Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser) each added 13 points for the Blue Jays and each shot 5-for-8 from the floor. Brizek also led the team in assists with four. Senior Kyle Conrad (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) chipped in 10 points and led the Blue Jays in rebounds with five and in steals with three. Haverford's leading scorer was Mark Gabriel, who totaled 24 points on a 9-for-14 performance from the field. Johnny Elefterakis added 10 points for Haverford. The Blue Jays will return to action in their first Commonwealth Conference game of the season Wednesday, December 1 at home at 8:00 p.m. against Susquehanna University.
