ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL Scranton Edges Etown 81-76 SCRANTON , Pa. --- Elizabethtown dropped to 6-4 overall with an 81-76 non-conference road loss to the University of Scranton Wednesday night. It was the Blue Jays’ first game since December 19. Etown held a 47-45 advantage at halftime. Scranton took the lead for good with 7:22 left in the game when a Paul Hawk three-pointer broke a 63-63 tie and gave the host Royals a 66-63 advantage. Scranton clung to a 74-66 lead with 3:11 left in the game, and Etown pulled to within three points of the Royals three times in the last three minutes. Scranton out-rebounded Etown 33-20 and held a 6-1 advantage in blocked shots. The Blue Jays held an 11-8 edge in steals. Scranton shot 25-for-31 from the free throw line, while Etown went just 7-for-14 from the foul line. Chad Piersol (Elverson, PA/Owen J. Roberts) led Elizabethtown in scoring with 20 points, and he shot 8-for-10 from the field and 3-for-4 from three-point range. Greg Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser) added 19 points and four assists for Etown, and he led the Blue Jays in steals with five. Brad Schreiber (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro) scored 11 points and pulled down four rebounds for Etown, and Brian Schreiber (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro) led the Blue Jays in rebounds with nine while scoring nine points. Randy Arnold led Scranton in scoring with 20 points, in assists with four, and in steals with three. Ryan Kirk added 15 points for the Royals, and Tom Bicknell scored 14 points and pulled down a game-high total of 13 rebounds. Elizabethtown will return to action in the Villa Julie Tournament Saturday, January 7. The Blue Jays will face host Villa Julie College in the opening round at 6:00 p.m. At Long Center, Scranton, Pa.
