Elizabethtown Blows out Villa Julie 95-69 in Opener of VJC Legg Mason Classic 

STEVENSON, Md. --- Elizabethtown defeated tournament host Villa Julie College 95-69 in the opening round of the Villa Julie Legg Mason Classic Saturday night by a 95-69 score to improve to 7-4 overall in 2005-06. The Blue Jays held a 51-32 lead by halftime.

Brian Schrieber '07 scored 28 points and had 8 rebounds.

Brian Schreiber (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro) led Elizabethtown in scoring with 28 points and pulled down eight rebounds, and Brad Schreiber (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro) scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Etown as well. The Blue Jays’ top rebounder was point guard Greg Adams (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon), who pulled down nine rebounds and scored five points. Michael Schatzmann (Paradise, PA/Pequea Valley) added 12 points from off the bench for Etown, and Greg Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser) and Chad Piersol (Elverson, PA/Owen J. Roberts) each added nine points for the Blue Jays. Brizek had a game-high total of six assists.

Anthony Fitzgerald was Villa Julies top scorer with 18 points, and he led all players in rebounds with 12. Steve Segears added 16 points and seven rebounds for Villa Julie, and Phillip Williams had 15 points.

With the win, Elizabethtown advances to compete in the tournament’s championship game, which will be held Sunday, January 7 at 6:30 p.m.
