Susquehanna Defeats Elizabethtown 69-58, Halts Etown’s Win Streak at Four
SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown’s four game winning streak came to an end on the road Wednesday night as host Susquehanna defeated the Blue Jays 69-58 in a Commonwealth Conference contest. Etown drops to 10-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference, while Susquehanna improves to 6-10 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
Elizabethtown shot just 36.8% (21-for-57) from the field, while Susquehanna converted 23 of 47 attempts (48.9%) and held a 35-27 advantage in rebounding over the Blue Jays. Elizabethtown held a 14-8 advantage in steals.
Chad Piersol (Elverson, PA/Owen J. Roberts) was the lone Etown player to score in double figures as he totaled 14 points, and he led the Blue Jays in steals with three. Michael Schatzmann (Paradise, PA/Pequea Valley) led Etown in rebounds with six, and he added seven points. Luke Ledyard (Frederick, MD/Governor Thomas Johnson) added eight points and had four rebounds for Etown.
Matt Effler led Susquehanna in points with 21 and in rebounds with 11. Brad Okonak scored 12 points and had five rebounds. Joel Patch added 11 points and six rebounds from off the bench, and Sean Ulichny scored 10 points for Susquehanna from off the bench.
Elizabethtown will return to action at home Saturday, January 21 in a 4:00 p.m. conference game against Moravian College.
At Selinsgrove, PA - O.W. Houts Gymnasium
