ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL Elizabethtown Outlasts Lycoming 87-79 for Second Straight Win ELIZABETHTOWN , Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 2-1 overall and got its second win in a row at home Tuesday night as the Blue Jays ground out an 87-79 win. Lycoming dropped to 1-2 overall with the loss. The Blue Jays carried a 36-31 lead into halftime, and the game remained close throughout the second half. Etown carried a thin lead for much of the second half, and Lycoming could not get ahead by more than two points during any of its brief leads in the second half. With 2:10 left in the game, the score was tied 72-72. Etown then went on a seven point run over the next 1:19 to go up 79-72. Lycoming pulled to within three points of Etown with 28 seconds left, but that was as close as the Warriors would get as Etown free throw shooting put the game away. Lycoming held a 36-31 advantage in rebounding over the course of the game, but Lycoming also committed 17 turnovers against nine for Etown, and the Blue Jays took full advantage of Lycoming’s miscues by scoring 22 points off turnovers over the course of the game. By contrast, Lycoming had eight points off turnovers throughout the game. Greg Adams (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon) led Etown in scoring with 17 points, and he tied for the team lead in assists with Michael Schatzmann (Paradise, PA/Pequea Valley) with four each. Schatzmann added 12 points and was the Blue Jays’ top rebounder with eight. Greg Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser) added 16 points for Etown and hit all three of his three-point attempts. Chad Piersol (Elverson, PA/Owen J. Roberts) added 12 points and led Etown in steals with three, and Brian Schreiber (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro) scored 11 points for Etown. Jonathan Pribble (Woolrich, PA/Central Mountain) led Lycoming in scoring with 21 points, and he pulled down eight rebounds. Lycoming’s top rebounder was Greg Sye (Chantilly, VA/Chantilly), who also scored 13 points. Patrick Baylor (Broomall, PA/Cardinal O’Hara) added 15 points for Lycoming, and Kevin Morris (Camp Hill, PA/Trinity) scored 10 points.
