Elizabethtown Falls to Messiah 53-44 

ELIZABETHTOWN , Pa. --- Elizabethtown College dropped to 6-7 overall and 1-2 in the Commonwealth Conference Wednesday night at the Blue Jays’ conference season resumed with a 53-44 home loss to Messiah College. Messiah improved to 9-4 overall and 3-0 in the conference with the win.

Messiah out-rebounded the host Blue Jays 40-32. Elizabethtown shot 36% (18-for-50) from the field, 20% (3-for-15) from three-point range, and 45.5% (5-for-11) from the free throw line.

Luke Ledyard (Frederick, MD/Governor Thomas Johnson) led Elizabethotwn in scoring with 15 points, and he made three steals and pulled down four rebounds. Chad Piersol (Elverson, PA/Owen J. Roberts) added nine points and grabbed five rebounds. Mike Church (Peach Bottom, PA/Solanco) scored seven points and had four rebounds for the Blue Jays.

Matt Henninger (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) led Messiah in scoring with 13 points, and he had six rebounds. Jonathan Boyd (Salisbury, NY/Dolgeville Central School) added 11 points from off the bench for the Falcons.

Elizabethtown will return to action at home against Commonwealth Conference rival Albright College at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13.
