Elizabethtown Falls to Juniata 74-68 

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College suffered its fourth consecutive loss, and its third Commonwealth Conference setback in a row, Tuesday night, falling on the road to Juniata College 74-68. Elizabethtown dropped to 6-9 overall and 1-4 in the conference with the loss, while Juniata improved to 8-8 overall and 2-3 in the conference with the victory.

Juniata out-rebounded Elizabethtown 40-31, and each team committed 19 turnovers. Elizabethtown committed 26 fouls, while Juniata had just 17. As a result, Juniata took 39 free throw attempts and hit 28 of them (71.8%), while Elizabethtown went 12-for-19 (63.2%) from the free throw line.

Three Elizabethtown players scored 11 points apiece to lead the team in scoring. Luke Ledyard (Frederick, MD/Gov. Thomas Johnson), Brian Goodwin (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) and Michael Schatzmann (Paradise, PA/Pequea Valley) each scored 11 points. Goodwin led the Blue Jays in assists with five and in steals with three. Ledyard and Phil Schaffer (Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) led the Blue Jays in rebounds with four each.

Brian Cannon led Juniata in scoring with 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds from off the bench. The Eagles’ top rebounder was Chris Jasiota, who had 14 rebounds and scored 11 points. Aaron Chamberlain and Brent Ferko each scored 12 points for Juniata.

Elizabethtown will return to action Saturday, January 20 at Moravian College in a 2:00 p.m. Commonwealth Conference game.
