ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL Elizabethtown Falls 63-51 to Juniata ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- For the first time all season, Elizabethtown lost a Commonwealth Conference game by more than nine points as the Blue Jays fell 63-51 at home to Juniata College Wednesday night. The loss drops Etown to 8-13 overall and 3-8 in the conference, while Juniata improves to 13-9 overall and 7-4 in the Commonwealth with the win. Elizabethtown took a 31-29 lead into halftime and the score was close for much of the game, with the Blue Jays trailing 52-49 with 6:18 left in the game. Juniata went on an 11-2 run over the final six minutes to pull away with its largest lead of the night by the game’s end. Juniata held a 46-29 advantage in rebounds, and the visiting Eagles shot 23-for-51 (45.1%) from the field. Elizabethtown shot just 17-for-57 (29.8%) from the field for the game and 7-for-31 (22.6%) in the second half. The Blue Jays held a 16-5 advantage in steals over Juniata, and the Eagles turned the ball over 22 times against 11 Etown turnovers. Kris Kieres (Barnesville, PA/Mahanoy Area) led Elizabethtown in scoring with 14 points and in steals with three. He shot 5-for-10 from the field and 4-for-7 from three-point range. Luke Ledyard (Frederick, MD/Gov. Thomas Johnson) led Etown in rebounds with six, shot 5-for-10 from the field and added 12 points for Elizabethtown. Brian Goodwin (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) scored eight points and led the Blue Jays in assists with four. He hit two out of three three-point attempts. Chris Jasiota (Oil City, PA/Oil City) led Juniata in scoring with 15 points, in blocked shots with three, and in rebounds with 14. He shot 7-for-11 from the field. Aaron Chamberlain (Wood, PA/Tussey Mtn.) added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles, and Brian Cannon (Fallston, MD/Fallston) scored 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds from off the bench. Nick Hager (Franklin, PA/Franklin Area) and Brent Ferko (Sarver, PA/Freeport) each scored nine points for Juniata.
