ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL Elizabethtown Ends Season with 88-69 Win over Moravian
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown wrapped up its 2006-07 season Saturday afternoon with an 88-69 home victory over Commonwealth Conference rival Moravian College. The Blue Jays conclude their season with a 9-15 overall record and a 4-10 mark in the conference with the win, while Moravian’s record drops to 11-14 overall and 4-10 in the conference with the loss. It is Elizabethtown’s lowest overall win total since the 1981-82 season and the first time the Blue Jays have missed the conference playoffs since the 1994-95 season. The Blue Jays cruised out to a 37-22 lead by halftime. Elizabethtown held a 29-25 edge in rebounds, and Moravian committed 31 turnovers against 14 for Etown over the course of the game. The Blue Jays also had a 17-5 edge in steals.
Etown senior Luke Ledyard (Frederick, MD/Gov. Thomas Johnson) wrapped up his career with a 19 point, five rebound, four steal and two assist performance. His point total matched his career-best performance set February 3 against Lebanon Valley. Sophomore Chris Fairbanks (Lititz, PA/Warwick) added a career-best total of 15 points from off the bench, and senior Greg Brizek (Sinking Spring, PA/Conrad Weiser) scored 14 points, totaled four assists, and had four steals in his final game for the Blue Jays. Junior Michael Schatzmann (Paradise, PA/Pequea Valley) added 13 points for Etown, and senior Brian Goodwin (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) led the Blue Jays in assists with five. First-year student Mike Church (Peach Bottom, PA/Solanco) added nine points from off the bench. Eric Whitman (Blairstown, NJ/Notre Dame East Stroudsburg) led Moravian in scoring with 15 points and in rebounds with eight. Ryan Miller (Easton, PA/Easton) added 13 points, and Steve Wenderfer (Chester, NJ/Mendham) scored 11 points for Moravian. At Elizabethtown, Pa. - Thompson Gymnasium |
