BILLET, SWEET LEAD THE WAY AS ETOWN UPSETS LEBANON VALLEY, 73-69

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Ryan Billet scored a game-high 27 points and Mark Sweet added 17 points and 14 rebounds, both career highs, as Elizabethtown upset Lebanon Valley 73-69 in MAC Commonwealth League action on Wednesday.

With the win, the Blue Jays (12-9, 6-5) strengthened their hold on the League's final playoff spot while dropping Lebanon Valley (16-5, 8-3) to their fourth loss in six games.

Andy Panko, currently fifth in the nation in scoring at 26.1 ppg, led the Flying Dutchmen with 26 points while teammate Dan Pfeil added 18 points and 13 rebounds in the losing effort.

Down 35-30 early in the second half, Etown rolled up nine straight points to take command. Sweet and Billet scored to start the run and A.J. Beamer, who finished with 13 points, sank two free throws and converted a three-point play to give the Blue Jays a 39-35 lead with 17:16 remaining.

Lebanon Valley fought back to tie the game at 63 with 2:17 left, but Etown converted 8-of-12 free throws in the game's final 2:13 to ice the victory. The Flying Dutchmen, who entered the game as the nation's 16th best free throw shooting team, shot 7-for-14 from the stripe on the evening and 6-for-24 from three-point land.

With his 27 points, Billet moved from seventh to fifth on Etown's all-time scoring list and now has 1,582 points for his career. He needs 27 to surpass Tom Kuffa for fourth place.

Joe Terch also hit double figures for the Flying Dutchmen with 11 points. Dan Andros added six rebounds and a team-high five assists for Etown.

Etown closes out its home schedule on Saturday, February 14 against Albright College. Game time is 4 p.m.
