ETOWN OPENS SPRINT CLASSIC WITH 70-62 WIN OVER DICKINSON; JAYS' EIGHT-GAME STREAK IS BEST IN 34 YEARS

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Adam Weber (Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain) led four players in double figures with 16 points as Elizabethtown defeated Dickinson, 70-62, in the first round of the Sprint Blue Jay Classic on Friday.  With the win, the Blue Jays improved to 9-1 on the season and posted their first eight-game winning streak since 1964-65.

Etown will face Lycoming (9-1) in the Sprint Classic finals on Saturday at 3 p.m.  The Warriors defeated Ferrum, 90-76, in the night's first semifinal game.

A.J. Beamer (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) helped key the Blue Jay effort with 13 points and seven rebounds.  Beamer and Weber combined to go a perfect 15-for-15 from the free throw line on the night.  Chris Sattele (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) chipped in with 12 points for Etown while teammate Mark Sweet (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) added ten points and 11 rebounds.

Matt Shaffer led all scorers with 20 points for Dickinson (2-6) while Van Cathcart added 12 points in the losing effort.  The Red Devils will face Ferrum in the Sprint Classic consolation game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
