ETOWN USES BIG SECOND HALF TO DOWN FDU-MADISON, 80-60, IN MAC QUARTERFINALS; JAYS TRAVEL TO WILKES ON THURSDAY

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- It had been 20 years since the Elizabethtown men last hosted a playoff game.

It was worth the wait.

Kevin Cristofoletti (Kendall Park, N.J./Notre Dame) led five Blue Jays in double figures with 14 points as Etown used a 51-point second half to cruise past FDU-Madison in the Middle Atlantic Conference quarterfinals on Tuesday.  With the win, the Blue Jays improved to 16-9.

Etown will face 1998 national semifinalist and defending MAC champion Wilkes University on Thursday night in Wilkes-Barre.  Game time is 7:30 p.m.  The Colonels defeated Widener, 68-59, in their quarterfinal matchup.

A.J. Beamer (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) added 13 points and Chris Sattele (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) tossed in 12 points to help the Blue Jays post their first playoff win since a 79-68 win at Lycoming in 1997.  Etown hadn't played a postseason game at home since a 45-41 win over Albright on February 24, 1979.

Kevin Kretschy led all scorers with 27 points for FDU-Madison (18-7) while Bill Timony added 19 points and a team-high eight rebounds.  The Devils shot just 17-for-51 (32.7 percent) from the field on the night, including a 7-for-23 (30.4 percent) performance from three-point land.

Etown took a 29-27 lead into the locker room and stretched the advantage to 45-35 before Kretschy hit the last of his six three-pointers to cut the lead to 45-38 with 12:22 remaining.

The Devils, however, were held without a field goal for the next 6:07 as Etown built a 63-47 lead thanks to eight points from Sattele and five points from Bob Porambo (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty).

Timony ended the drought with a basket, but FDU-Madison could get no closer than 14 points down the stretch.

Mark Sweet (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) scored 11 points and added five assists for the Blue Jays while Adam Weber (Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain) scored ten points and Brian Schmoyer (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone) dished out a game-high seven assists.  Harry Vega handed out a team-best five assists for FDU-Madison.
