ETOWN UPSET BY JUNIATA, 64-63

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- Elizabethtown fell to 2-5 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth and 7-8 overall with a 64-63 loss to perennial conference cellar-dweller Juniata (2-13, 1-6) Saturday.

Juniata jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the game's opening minutes and held on to the lead for the entire game. Etown pulled to within two points with 11:10 remaining in the first half, and Juniata responded by going on an 11 point scoring run and building a 28-15 lead. Elizabethtown fought back and cut the lead to 37-31 by halftime.

Elizabethtown pulled to within one point with 4:44 remaining to play, and again with 38 seconds remaining. Juniata then hit two foul shots, and Ross Unruh (Denver, PA/Cocalico) responded with a jumper to pull Etown to within one point again at 22 seconds. Juniata's Tim Lonesky then went three for four from the foul line, and Rocky Parise hit a three-pointer for Etown with four seconds left to pull to within one yet again. The Blue Jays could not get off another clear shot as time expired.

Bob Porambo (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) led Etown with 23 points and three assists. He also pulled down ten boards. Mark Sweet (Sadsburyville, PA/Coatesville) led the Blue Jays with 13 rebounds and two steals, and Parise added 10 more points.

Etown returns to action Monday, January 24 on the road against Dickinson. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
