ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown pulled out a 70-69 nailbiter victory
at home Saturday over the University of Scranton. Over the course of the game, neither team ever led
by more than eight points.
Elizabethtown (11-9) took a four point lead into halftime, but Scranton
(11-8) managed to take the lead with just over eight minutes to go in
the game. The lead changed hands nine times after that point, with Elizabethtown
scoring the winning points in the final minute off a shot from Brian Loftus
(Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West).
Leading the Blue Jays in points was Bob Porambo (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty)
with 19. Mark Sweet (Sadsburyville, PA/Coatesville) scored 15 points and
pulled down 14 rebounds, and Rocky Parise (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt)
led the team with six assists.
Henry Condron led Scranton with 22 points. The brother of Etown's Brian
Loftus, Dan Loftus (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) led Scranton with
four assists in the first game in which the two played against each other.
Elizabethtown returns to action on the road against Widener Wednesday,
January 9. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
