ETOWN BEGINS SEASON WITH 75-73 CLIFFHANGER WIN OVER BRIDGEWATER

UPPER MONTCLAIR, N.J. --- Bob Porambo (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) hit a jumper at the buzzer to lift Elizabethtown past Bridgewater (MA) in the opener of Montclair State's Summit Bank Tip-Off Tournament Friday.

Porambo also led the Blue Jays with 20 points. Mark Sweet (Sadsburyville, PA/Coatesville) grabbed 10 rebounds and had 14 points.

Elizabethtown jumped out to a 38-32 lead by halftime, but Bridgewater chipped away at the lead until it gained a 66-64 advantage with 6:18 left to play. Bridgewater led 71-68 with 1:22 remaining. Ross Unruh (Denver, PA/Cocalico) then sank a jump shot, followed by a three by Porambo. Bridgewater tied the game once more with eight seconds left. Porambo hit his final shot with no time remaining on the clock.

The Blue Jays (1-0) will next take on the winner of tonight's Montclair State—Hunter game at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
