BLUE JAYS BLAST EASTERN IN FINAL GAME OF 1999, 74-46

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- After some initial struggling, Elizabethtown surged ahead and steamrolled past Eastern, 72-46, in the Blue Jays' final game of 1999.

Down 20-18 to Eastern with 7:53 remaining to play in the first half, Etown ran away with 13 unanswered points.

Eastern's Matt Groark ended the Blue Jay's scoring spree with a three-pointer one second before halftime, making the score 33-23 in Elizabethtown's favor at the half. Etown dominated the second half, outscoring Eastern 41-23.

Leading Etown's scoring was Bob Porambo (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) with 24 points. The only other Blue Jay who hit double digits was Matt Nikoloff (Grove City, PA/Grove City) with 13.

Mark Sweet (Sadsburyville, PA/Coatesville) led Etown with 12 rebounds, and Rocky Parise (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) dished out seven assists.

Groark led Eastern (2-5) with 13 points, while Beau Brossoit and Graham Thorpe each pulled down eight rebounds.

Etown (3-5) returns to action at home against Dickinson Friday, January 7, in the first round of the Sprint Blue Jay Classic tournament. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
