Defending MAC Champion Messiah Defeats Etown, 17-8

GRANTHAM, Pa. --- Elizabethtown lost its second consecutive game Wednesday, falling on the road to defending Middle Atlantic Conference champion Messiah, 17-8. With the loss, the Blue Jays drop to 4-5 overall and 3-3 in the conference, while Messiah improves to 5-5 overall and 4-1 in the MAC.

Sean Thomson (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) led Etown in goal scoring with two, and Justin McQuaid (Chester Heights, PA/Garnet Valley) led the Blue Jays with two assists. Thomson, Ryan Smetana (Conowingo, MD/John Carroll), Chris McCrea (Broomall, PA/Marple Newtown), and Ryan Leister (Bally, PA/Boyertown) all led Etown in ground balls with four each.

Messiah scored six goals in the first quarter and eight in the fourth quarter, but was held to just one goal in the second quarter and two in the third. Etown goalie Brian Burke (Upper Darby, PA/Haverford) made ten saves in the third quarter, and totaled 21 stops for the game.

Etown returns to action Sunday, April 14 at home against Drew for a 1:00 p.m. conference game.
