Etown Defeats DeSales, 11-5, Gets First MAC Win of Season, Improves to 2-1 Overall

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference in 2003 with an 11-5 win over DeSales at home Saturday. DeSales dropped to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the MAC with the loss. The game was originally supposed to be held at DeSales, but the location was switched to Etown because the Blue Jays' turf field was in better condition than the natural grass field at DeSales as the snow cover plaguing the Northeast continued to melt.

Justin Griffey (Aberdeen, MD/Aberdeen) led the Blue Jay offense with three goals scored, and he had an assist to total four points. Allen Churchman (Aston, PA/Garnet Valley) had a team-high total for five points on one goal and four assists. J.B. Sheridan (Germantown, MD/Seneca Valley) and Justin McQuaid (Chester Heights, PA/Garnet Valley) each scored two goals for Etown. Mike Dunn (Upper Darby, PA/Monsignor Bonner) led Etown with eight ground balls, and he scored one goal. Matt Seiboth (Havertown, PA/Haverford) had six ground balls, one goal, and one assist. Matt Newell (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) added one goal and two assists for Etown.

Patrick Stringer (Cockeysville, MD/Delaney) and Brian Kuttler (Doylestown, PA/Archbishop Wood) each led DeSales with two goals. Dylan Beese (Berwick, NJ/Hillsborough) scored DeSales' other goal.

Brian Burke (Upper Darby, PA/Haverford) made seven saves in the Etown net, and Joe Kots (Philadelphia, PA/Roman Catholic) had 15 saves for DeSales.

Etown will return to action at home Wednesday, March 19 against Neumann in a 3:30 p.m. game.
