Etown Ties Program Win Mark by Shutting Out MAC Rival Drew, 5-0

MADISON, N.J. --- Elizabethtown got its program record-tying fifth win of the season Saturday by achieving a true rarity in lacrosse: a 5-0 shutout of Middle Atlantic Conference rival Drew. It was both the first shutout win in Etown history and the first shutout loss in Drew history. The Blue Jays improved to 5-5 overall and 3-3 in the MAC with the victory, tying the win total from their 5-9 inaugural season in 2002. Drew dropped to 2-7 overall and 1-4 in the MAC.

Etown out-shot Drew 26-12 and held a wide 46-25 advantage in ground balls.

Matt Seiboth (Havertown, PA/Haverford) scored one goal and had one assist for the Blue Jays. Also scoring single goals for Etown were Matt Newell (Malvern, PA/Great Valley), Drew Ward (Pasadena, MD/Northeast), Bryan Miller (West Chester, PA/Henderson) and Allen Churchman (Aston, PA/Garnet Valley). Ward's and Miller's goals were the first of their collegiate careers.

Also notching single assists for Elizabethtown were Ryan Leister (Bally, PA/Boyertown), Justin McQuaid (Chester Heights, PA/Garnet Valley) and Brian Ginter (Newtown, PA/Marple Newtown). Etown goalie Chris Swierczek (Media, PA/Penncrest) made 15 saves to get the shutout win.

The Blue Jays will try to set a new win record Wednesday, April 16 as they host Goucher in a 4:00 p.m. non-conference game.
