Etown Defeats Villa Julie, 20-7, Justin Griffey Scores Five Goals

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College improved to 2-1 overall and 2-0 at home with a commanding 20-7 victory over Villa Julie (0-3) in a non-conference game Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays stormed out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter and were up 12-1 by halftime. Etown took a 17-1 lead at the end of the third quarter before Villa Julie scored six of its seven goals for the day in the fourth quarter.

Justin Griffey (Aberdeen, MD/Aberdeen) led Etown in scoring with five goals, and he had two assists for a team high of seven points as well as five ground balls. Matt Seiboth (Havertown, PA/Haverford) totaled three goals, one assist, four points and five ground balls for Etown. Matt Newell (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) led the Blue Jays in assists with three, and he scored two goals for five points. Allen Churchman (Aston, PA/Garnet Valley) had two goals and two assists for three points, and Reid Allison (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) scored two goals as well. Bryan Miller (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) and Tim Sieger (Levittown, PA/Conwell-Egan) each had one goal and two assists for three points, and Mike Dunn (Upper Darby, PA/Monsignor Bonner) led Etown in ground balls with seven, won 16 out of 23 face-offs, and scored one goal for the Blue Jays.

Travis Hinkle (Baltimore, MD/Boy's Latin) paced the Villa Julie offense with four goals, and he had three ground balls as well. Derek Wolford (Fallston, MD/Fallston) led the Mustangs in ground balls with four, and he scored one goal.

Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Saturday, March 20 against Moravian College in the Blue Jays' Middle Atlantic Conference opener at 2:00 p.m.
