Drew Outlasts Late Etown Run, Defeats Blue Jays 9-7

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College dropped to 7-4 overall and 5-2 in the Middle Atlantic Conference after a late Etown rally against Drew University, which improved to 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the MAC, in a 9-7 home loss fell short. It was Etown's first loss at home all season, and Etown is now 5-1 this season on its home turf field.

Drew wasted no time in going on the attack, scoring its first goal just 29 seconds into the game. By the time the first quarter was over, Drew held a 4-0 lead, and Drew's lead stood at 5-2 by halftime.

Phil Rosenau (Ambler, PA/Germantown Academy) scored a pair of goals for Drew in the first five minutes of the third quarter to give Drew its biggest lead of the game, a five goal margin of 7-2. From there,

Elizabethtown mounted a comeback and rattled off five consecutive goals. Etown scored three goals in the remaining ten minutes of the third quarter, and Paul Wisneski (Cheyney, PA/Henderson) scored twice for Etown with 12:54 and 8:28 remaining in the fourth quarter to tie the game 7-7.

Eric Siegel (Culver City, CA/Windward) scored a goal for Drew with 7:28 remaining to put the Rangers ahead 8-7. Elizabethtown possessed the ball on offense for most of the last five minutes of the game, but Drew regained possession late in the final minute, ran the ball downfield, and scored on another Siegel goal with 12 seconds left to seal the victory.

Wisneski was Etown's leading goal scorer with two goals, and Tim Sieger (Levittown, PA/Conwell-Egan) led the Blue Jays in assists with two. Dave Eshleman (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) and Justin McQuaid (Chester Heights, PA/Garnet Valley) led Etown in ground balls with five each, and McQuaid scored a single goal as well.
