ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S LACROSSE Elizabethtown Pounds Moravian 18-4 in Conference Opener ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 2-4 overall and 1-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Saturday with an 18-4 home thrashing of Moravian College. Etown scored nine goals in the first quarter alone and did not allow a Moravian goal until the fourth quarter. Etown goalie Fran McKeever (Springfield, PA/Springfield) started the game and played the first three quarters, making nine saves and netting two ground balls while not allowing a single goal. Chris Schuch (Columbia, PA/Hempfield) took over in the goal for Etown in the fourth quarter and made three saves with one ground ball. First-year student Rob Towe (Hockessin, DE/A.I. DuPont) led Etown in scscoring with four goals, and he tallied one assist. Allen Churchman (Aston, PA/Garnet Valley) scored three goals and led Etown in assists with four. First-year Andrew Sproule (Hatfield, PA/North Penn) scored his first two collegiate goals for Etown in the fourth quarter. Brian Ginter (Newtown Square, PA/Marple Newtown) tallied three assists for Etown. Frankie Puzzangara (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) scored one goal and had one assist for Etown, as did Matt Seiboth (Havertown, PA/Haverford). Tallying single goals for Etown were Bryan Miller (West Chester, PA/Henderson), Justin Griffey (Aberdeen, MD/Aberdeen), Matt Newell (Malvern, PA/Great Valley), Justin Carson (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie), Paul Wisneski (Cheyney, PA/Henderson), Ryan Smetana (Conowingo, MD/John Carroll) and Brad Frost (Lampeter, PA/Manheim Township). First-year students Carson and Frost each had their first collegiate goals. Notching single assists for the Blue Jays were Chris Harrison (Newark, DE/Salesianum), Mike Dunn (Upper Darby, PA/Monsignor Bonner) and Tom Welch (West Chester, PA/West Chester East). Dunn and Chris McCrea (Broomall, PA/Marple Newtown) led Etown in ground balls with five each. Nick Cacciutti (Media, PA/Haverford School) led Moravian in scoring with two goals, and David Poppe (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) had seven ground balls. Etown will return to action on the road Thursday, March 24 against Lycoming in a 3:30 p.m. MAC game.
