Nationally Sixth-Ranked Messiah Downs Elizabethtown 16-5

GRANTHAM, Pa. --- Elizabethtown dropped to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Wednesday with a 16-5 road loss to nationally sixth-ranked Messiah College. It was Etown's fourth game against a nationally ranked opponent this season. Messiah improves to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the MAC with the win.

Etown sophomore Frankie Puzzangara (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) scored the game's opening goal with 7:27 left in the first quarter. By the end of the first quarter, Messiah held a 2-1 lead. By halftime, Messiah's lead stood at 8-5. The Falcons scored five unanswered goals in the third quarter and three unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to close out the game.

Puzzangara and senior Bryan Miller (West Chester, PA/Henderson) were Etown's top scorers with two goals apiece. Junior Matt Seiboth (Havertown, PA/Haverford) added one goal for Etown, and senior defender Chris McCrea (Broomall, PA/Marple Newtown) led Etown in ground balls with eight. All of Elizabethtown's goals were unassisted.

Andrew Collins (Olney, MD/Magruder) was Messiah's leading scorer with five goals, and he also had one assist. Jono Linebaugh (Oak Hill, VA/Oakton) led Messiah in assists with four, and he scored three goals for a game-leading total of seven points. Tosh Tryon (Rehobeth Beach, DE/Worcester Prep.) led Messiah in ground balls with eight.

Elizabethtown will return to action at home Saturday, April 2 when it hosts King's College (Pa.) in a 1:00 p.m. Middle Atlantic Conference game.
