FDU-Florham Edges Etown 8-6

MADISON, N.J. --- Elizabethtown dropped to 2-8 overall and 2-3 in the Middle Atlantic Conference in an 8-6 road loss to MAC rival FDU-Florham Saturday. FDU-Florham improved to 4-4 overall and 4-2 in the MAC with the win.

FDU took a 2-1 lead in the first quarter and led 5-2 at halftime. Etown cut the host Devils’ lead to 7-5 by the end of the third quarter, and each team scored one goal in the fourth. FDU-Florham out-shot Etown 27-25 and held a 27-21 edge in ground balls.

Frankie Puzzangara (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) led Elizabethtown in goals scored with four, and he led the Blue Jays in ground balls with nine. He also won 12 out of 17 faceoffs. Matt Seiboth (Havertown, PA/Haverford) scored one goal and assisted two more for Etown. Chris Harrison (Newark, DE/Salesianum) scored one goal for Etown, and Brad Whitcomb (Taneytown, MD/Francis Scott Key) had one assist.

Mark Barry and Ryan Johnson each scored twice for FDU-Florham, and Barry had one assist. Scott Shadiack scored once and had one assist for the Devils, and Mike Frey, Peter Fleming and Jason Koontz each scored one goal for FDU-Florham.

Elizabethtown will return to action at home Thursday, April 13 against Lycoming College in a 4:00 p.m. MAC game.
