ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S LACROSSE Elizabethtown Scrapes Past Susquehanna 9-8 in Overtime ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Wednesday, narrowly defeating Susquehanna University 9-8 in overtime at home. Susquehanna dropped to 2-8 overall and 2-5 in the MAC with the loss. Elizabethtown held a 3-1 lead at the end of the first quarter, a 5-3 lead a halftime, and a 7-4 lead at the end of the third quarter. Susquehanna’s Shane Enos (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) scored the opening goal of the fourth quarter with 13:49 on the clock, and Elizabethtown’s Aaron Weber (Lititz, PA/Manheim Central) scored with 12:14 remaining to make the score 8-5. Susquehanna then scored three unanswered goals to close out the fourth quarter and send the game into overtime. Greg Norris (St. Catherines, ON/Dennis Morris) scored for Susquehanna with 9:19 left, and Brett Brown (Cape Elizabeth, ME/ Cape Elizabeth) scored at 4:28 and again with 1:30 remaining to tie the game 8-8. Susquehanna received a slashing penalty with 3:33 on the clock in overtime, and with 3:10 left, Weber scored the winning goal for Elizabethtown. Weber finished the game with a leading total of four goals, and he had two assists for six points. Andrew Wagner (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) scored twice for Elizabethtown, and Frankie Puzzangara (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven), Brad Whitcomb (Taneytown, MD/Francis Scott Key) and Bobby Freed (Quakertown, PA/Wyoming Seminary) each scored one goal for the Blue Jays. Puzzangara also led Etown in ground balls with 12, and he won eight out of 11 faceoffs. Keith Staulters (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) had one assist for Etown, and defender Eric Peifer (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) totaled six ground balls. Etown goaltender Chris Schuch ( olumbia, PA/Hempfield) made eight saves and had five ground balls. Susquehanna goaltender A.J. Schaufler (Bernardsville, NJ/Bernards) made 17 saves and scooped up seven ground balls. Norris finished the game with three goals and one assist fro Susquehanna, and Brown had two goals and one assist. Enos added two more goals, and Matt Trimble (West Chester, PA/Archmere Acad.) added one goal for Susquehanna. Elizabethtown will return to action at home Saturday, April 14 against MAC rival FDU-Florham. At Elizabethtown, Pa.
