Elizabethtown Pounds Susquehanna 14-4

BALTIMORE, Md. --- Sophomore Jon Day (Thornton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) scored a game-high five goals to lead Elizabethtown College to a 14-4 victory over Susquehanna University in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Homewood Field on the campus of Johns Hopkins University on Thursday night.

Sophomore Josh Dougherty (Ocean City, MD/Worcester Academy) added three goals while junior Ryan McCafferty (Orlando, FL/Boone) dished out four assists for the Blue Jays (1-1 overall), who used scoring runs of three, three and five goals to earn the win over the Crusaders (1-1 overall).

Sophomore Keith Staulters (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) added a pair of goals for Elizabethtown, while sophomore Aaron Weber (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township), sophomore Phil Robinson (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West), first-year student Matt Miller (Willow Street, PA/Lampeter-Strasburg) and first-year student Greg Kenneally (Lutherville, MD/Loyola Blakefield) also scored.

Jon Day led all players with 12 ground balls and won 14-of-19 faceoffs, while brother Chris added six ground balls for the Blue Jays.

Four different players scored goals for Susquehanna, which trailed 4-1 at the end of one quarter and 7-2 at halftime. The Blue Jays went 3-for-4 with the man advantage while the Crusaders tallied once in five man-up opportunities.

Senior Chris Schuch (Columbia, PA/Hempfield) made seven saves in the first 58 minutes of action, as first-year student Hunter Malick (Center Valley, PA/Moravian Academy) finished with one stop in the final two minutes for Elizabethtown. Kirk Ryan and Mike Finne split time in goal for Susquehann, with each making seven saves.
