ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S LACROSSE Elizabethtown Picks Up 14-8 Win over Immaculata ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Junior Ryan McCafferty (Orlando, FL/Boone) scored a career-high seven goals as Elizabethtown College defeated Immaculata University 14-8 in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Wolf Field. Sophomore Keith Staulters (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) and first-year student Greg Kenneally (Lutherville, MD/Loyola Blakefield) each added a goal and two assists for the Blue Jays (2-1 overall), who scored seven straight goals over a span of 18 minutes in the second half to earn the win over the Mighty Macs (0-2 overall). The seven goals by McCafferty are tied for the second-best single-game performance in program history, behind the nine-goal effort of Sean Thomson against Misericordia University on March 13, 2002. Elizabethtown jumped to an early 4-1 lead behind three goals from McCafferty, but Immaculata closed the first quarter with three goals in the final two minutes to knot the game at 4-4. Staulters and McCafferty notched the lone goals of the second quarter to give the Blue Jays a 6-4 lead at halftime. After the Mighty Macs pulled within 6-5 in the first 90 seconds of the third quarter, Elizabethtown ran off seven straight goals, including three from McCafferty, to move ahead 13-5 with 8:05 remaining. Sophomore Aaron Weber (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) scored a goal and added an assist for Elizabethtown, while single goals came from sophomore Jon Day (Thornton, PA/Bishop Shanahan), sophomore Chris Senese (Leonardtown, MD/Unionville), first-year student Kurt Deschner (Kelowna, BC/Kelowna Secondary) and first-year student Ben Landis (Talmage, PA/Conestoga Valley). Patrick Durso and Geoff Lorentz led Immaculata with two goals apiece, while Jim Baranello and Brendan Dinneen each posted a goal and an assist. Elizabethtown finished with a dominating 56-22 edge in shots and collected 45 ground balls to Immaculata's 30. Sophomore Chris Day (Thornton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) led all players with seven ground balls for the Blue Jays, while Jon Day went 8-for-13 on faceoffs and first-year student Brent Campbell (Baltimore, MD/Mt. St. Joseph) finished 7-for-10 on draws. The Blue Jays were successful on 4-of-6 extra-man opportunities, while the Mighty Macs went 1-for-4 with the man advantage.
