OSWALD SCORES GOAL, ASSISTS ANOTHER TO LIFT ETOWN TO 2-1 WIN OVER F&M LANCASTER, Pa. --- Tim Oswald scored one goal and assisted another to lift the Blue Jays (1-0) to a 2-1 season-opener victory over Franklin and Marshall (0-1). The victory was the 11th straight for the Blue Jays vs. the Diplomats and allowed the visitors to retain ownership of the "Smith-Herr Bronze Boot," the trophy the teams have competed for since 1978. Elizabethtown has a 17-3-2 lead in the series since the inception of the Boot. The Blue Jays got on the scoreboard at the 36:35 mark when Oswald controlled a throw-in from near midfield behind the F&M defense for a breakaway on goalie Andy Herson. Oswald then set up Elizabethtown's second goal just over two minutes later when he gave Jamie Cook a through pass. Cook split the F&M defenders and beat Herson inside the right post for a 2-0 halftime lead. Goaltender Doug Timm, who faced just four shots, lost the shutout when F&M freshman Ryan Walk lifted a shot from 25 yards out just under the crossbar with just over three minutes left in the match. - by Tom Byrnes
