ETOWN BEATS URSINUS, 6-0, TO WIN BLUE JAY CLASSIC CROWN; KING'S DEFEATS MANCHESTER, 2-1, FOR THIRD PLACE

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown (4-0-1) won its Blue Jay Classic Men's Soccer Tournament for the first time since 1996 Sunday by defeating Ursinus, 6-0, in the championship game.  It was the Blue Jays' second consecutive shutout, as Etown outscored its opponents 9-0 in the tournament.

Once again, the Blue Jays scored early as Dominic Marano (New Hope, PA/Salisbury School) scored a goal off a corner kick, assisted by Tim Oswald (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge), three minutes into the game.  Elizabethtown's next goal came at the twenty minute mark on a penalty kick from Brian Hoy (Beaver Springs, PA/West Snyder), who also had two assists in the game.  The Blue Jays finished the first half ahead 3-0 after a goal by Jamie Cook (Havertown, PA/Haverford School).

Four minutes into the second half, Elizabethtown struck again with a goal by Bill Rizzo (Runnemede, NJ/Triton Regional) off an indirect kick by Hoy.  Etown put two more nails in Ursinus' coffin with goals by Brad Confer (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) and Joe Franc (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrence).

Following the game, Oswald was given the award for best offensive performance in the tournament for his pair of goals against Manchester Saturday and for his assist on the game-winning goal against Ursinus.  Elizabethtown's Wyeth Raws (Malvern, PA/West Chester East) was named the tournament's best defensive player.

King's won the third place game earlier in the day, defeating Manchester 2-1.  Jeremy Kozinski and Josh Smargiassi each scored goals for the Monarchs, while Al Calixte scored Manchester's lone goal of the tournament.

The Blue Jays return to action Wednesday, September 15 on the road against Muhlenberg.  Game time is 7:00 p.m.

at Elizabethtown, Pa.
