DREW FALLS TO ETOWN, 1-0, IN REMATCH OF '98 MAC SEMIFINALS

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Thursday was payback time for the Blue Jays, as Elizabethtown (9-0-1) defeated Drew, 1-0.  In their last meeting, Drew (6-3) ended Etown's 1998 season with a 2-1 victory in the Middle Atlantic Conference Semifinals.  Thursday, however, was Elizabethtown's turn to celebrate.

The score remained tied 0-0 for much of the game.  After many close calls, neither team had scored with ten minutes left in regulation time.  The stalemate was finally broken by Joe Franc (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrence) at 83:30, who scored on assists from Dominic Marano (New Hope, PA/Solebury School) and Wyeth Raws (Malvern, PA/West Chester East).

Blue Jay goalkeeper Doug Timm (Wilmington, DE/McKean) made five saves in the team's seventh shutout of the season.

Etown returns to action at home against Wesley Saturday, October 2, as part of Elizabethtown College's Homecoming festivities.  Game time is 2:30 p.m.
