ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S SOCCER
ETOWN WINS 1-0 CLIFFHANGER OVER EASTERN, TIES PROGRAM CONSECUTIVE SHUTOUT RECORD
ST. DAVIDS, Pa. --- In a high-pitched defensive struggle, Elizabethtown defeated Eastern College in dramatic fashion Saturday, winning 1-0 in the 113th minute of a double-overtime deadlock. The victory was the Blue Jays' seventh consecutive shutout, tying the program record for most consecutive shutouts, set in 1984 and tied in 1996. It was also the 298th win of Etown head coach Skip Roderick's career.
The game-winning goal was scored by Brian Hoy (Beaver Springs, PA/West Snyder), and was assisted by Dominic Marano (New Hope, PA/Solebury School) and Wyeth Raws (Malvern, PA/West Chester East).
Etown goaltender Doug Timm (Wilmington, DE/McKean) held Eastern scoreless through 113 minutes, making seven saves and gaining the team's eleventh shutout of the season. His goals against average for the season is now 0.23 with a save percentage of .936, and the team has allowed a total of only three goals in fourteen games.
Elizabethtown (13-0-1) will attempt to break the consecutive shutout
record and pull within one win of the 300 mark for Roderick on the road
