ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown defeated Commonwealth Conference rival Widener 4-1 at home Wednesday. With the win, Etown improves to 12-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference. Widener falls of 5-9-1 overall and 0-5 in the Commonwealth.
Despite the three-point disparity in the score, Etown only out-shot the Pioneers 12-9, and Blue Jay goalkeeper Nick Hostetter (Lebanon, PA/Annville-Cleona) made eight saves.
Etown's first goal was scored by Tim Oswald (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) only 3:27 into the game. J.T. Liss (Bayville, NJ/Central Regional), who also had two assists on the day, followed with a goal of his own 20:57 into the game, and Etown took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Widener made the score 2-1 with a goal by Jeremy Sprout (Elkton, MD/North East) 65:27 into the game. A second goal by Oswald put Etown ahead 3-1 74:53 into the game, and the final goal was scored by Adam Dively (Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove) with 6:55 left to play.
Etown next faces Wilkes on the road Saturday, October 21. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
