Etown Falls to Drew, 3-2, in Game Cut Short by Lightning

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- 70 minutes need to be played in an NCAA soccer game for the results to be official. Elizabethtown's 3-2 home loss to Drew Thursday night lasted exactly 70 minutes and 58 seconds before the game was suspended due to lightning. After a wait of 40 minutes, the game was declared finished when the thunderstorm did not abate.

Drew jumped out to 2-0 lead early in the first half on goals by Ian Brennan and Olexsandr Stakhiv at 13:46 and 14:55, respectively. David O'Herlihy (Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, Ireland/St. Eanans College) got the Blue Jays on the scoreboard with a goal at 25:12.

The Blue Jays tied the game at 42:58 when Tim Filewicz (Wenonah, NJ/Deptford Township) scored on a pass by Adam Dively (Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove).

Drew scored what turned out to be the abortive game's winning goal early in the second half at 47:34 when Chris Mueller scored.

By 60:14, Drew was playing two men down after a pair of red cards.

Elizabethtown falls to 3-4 overall with the loss, while Drew improves to 7-0.

Elizabethtown returns to action on the road against Penn State-Behrend Sunday, September 23 at 1:00 p.m. Please note the change in the date of the game.
