Etown Edges Wilkes, 1-0, at Homecoming

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown scraped past Wilkes, 1-0, in its Homecoming game at Ira R. Herr Field Saturday. The Blue Jays, who have clinched their 50th consecutive season with a .500 or better finish, are now 11-5-1 overall heading into the final week of the regular season. Wilkes falls to 5-10 overall with the loss.

Elizabethtown pounded 19 shots in the vicinity of Wilkes' goal, but was stopped 11 times by Colonel goalkeeper Seth Nye (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh). The Blue Jays finally got a shot through with 8:18 left in regulation time when Adam Dively (Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove) scored off an assist from J.T. Liss (Bayville, NJ/Central Regional).

Etown outshot Wilkes 19-1, and had eight corner kicks against one for the Colonels. The Blue Jays also were called offsides six times. Edwin Tichenor (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) made one save in the goal for Etown to get the shutout.

Elizabethtown will face Delaware Valley at home Wednesday, October 24.
