ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S SOCCER Roanoke Wins Blue Jay Classic with 4-0 Win over Westminster, Etown Defeats Keuka 3-0 to Claim Third Place ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Roanoke won the 2002 Richard D. Poole, Inc. Blue Jay Classic Saturday with a 4-0 victory over Westminster, and host Elizabethtown took third place by beating Keuka, 3-0. Roanoke (2-2) got on the board early against Westminster (0-2-2), as Regi Francois (Springfield, PA/Washington International), who was later named the tournament's Offensive Most Valuable Player, scored just 1:32 into the game. Francois scored again at 24:06 to give the Maroons a 2-0 lead. From that point on, Roanoke found it impossible to get anything else past Westminster goalie Kevin Humberston (North Versailles, PA/East Allegheny), who made ten saves on the day and was later named the tournament's Defensive Most Valuable Player. It was Humberston who almost single-handedly led Westminster to the tournament's championship game Friday, making nine saves against Elizabethtown, against which the Titans were badly out-shot, through two halves and two overtime periods of 0-0 play, and helped the Titans come out on top in the end on penalty kicks. It was not until Humberston was removed with 18:26 remaining in the championship game that Roanoke was able to score again, as Brandan Moffett (Laurel, MD/Laurel) scored twice in the game's closing minutes to give Roanoke a 4-0 win. Andrew Kummerer (Glenmoore, PA/Coatesville) scored Elizabethtown's first goal against Keuka (1-2) at 14:34 off an assist from Timothy Filewicz (Wenonah, NJ/Deptford). Etown (2-0-2) did not score again until 70:12, when Brian Albrecht (Baltimore, MD/Patapsco) caught a pass from Filewicz and put it in the back of the net. Chase Franklin (Phoenix, MD/Loyola Blakefield) scored the Blue Jays' final goal at 72:26 on a penalty kick. Elizabethtown will return to action at home Saturday, September 14 at home against Lancaster County rival Franklin and Marshall in a 7:00 p.m. game.
