Etown Defeats Moravian, 2-0, Improves to 3-0-1 in Commonwealth Conference
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- With a 2-0 home win over Moravian Tuesday night, Elizabethtown improved to 11-2-3 overall and 3-0-1 in the Commonwealth Conference, while Moravian dropped to 6-6-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the conference with the loss.
Etown out-shot the Greyhounds 18-7 over the game and 7-3 in the first half, but did not score its first goal until 55:41, when Steve Custer (Baltimore, MD/Dundalk) scored unassisted, taking a bounce off the Moravian goalkeeper into the net. Etown scored again just over 30 seconds later when Andrew Kummerer (Glenmoore, PA/Coatesville) hit a Charlie Haines (Hamilton, NJ/Hun School of Princeton) pass into the back pocket of the Moravian goal.
Moravian did have several good chances to score in the game, most notably in the second minute after the start when the Greyhounds were awarded a direct kick that was blocked by Michael Ciattei (Jarrettsville, MD/St. Paul's School-Baltimore) for one of three saves he made in the game.
Also, Elizabethtown played all but the first 11:56 of the game down a man after an Etown player was red carded. In all, Elizabethtown was given 16 fouls and four cards against eight fouls and no cards for Moravian.
