Etown Improves to 13-2-3 with 4-1 Win over Susquehanna

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 13-2-3 overall and 5-0-1 in the Commonwealth Conference with a 4-1 win at home over Susquehanna Thursday night. Susquehanna drops to 8-9 overall and 3-4 in the conference with the loss.

Charlie Haines (Hamilton, NJ/Hun School of Princeton) netted Etown's first goal, hitting the corner pocket off a pass from Drew Wiley (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) just 4:52 into the game. Ryan Wattenschaidt (Jarrettsville, MD/North Harford) scored on a Casey Moore (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) pass to put Etown up 2-0 just 48 seconds later.

Although Etown out-shot Susquehanna 14-2 in the first half, the Blue Jays' lead remained 2-0 going into halftime. The Blue Jays went up 3-0 at 48:48 when Steve Custer (Baltimore, MD/Dundalk) netted another pass by Wiley, who totaled two assists in the game.
Susquehanna got its only goal on a penalty kick by Brandon Emery (West Chester, PA/Downingtown) at 58:58. Etown went up 4-1 at 84:19, as Chris Boushell (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) scored on an assist from Philip Brynildsen (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan).

Etown out-shot Susquehanna 22-7 over the course of the entire game, and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. Michael Ciattei (Jarrettsville, MD/St. Paul's School-Baltimore) made three saves in the goal for Etown, and Ryan Murray (New Hope, PA/Pennington School) had 12 saves.

Etown will return to action Saturday, November 2 on the road against Commonwealth Conference rival Messiah in the final game of the season, the infamous Marshmallow Trophy game. Messiah is currently ranked third in the country.
