ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown's men's soccer team rose to the occasion in a huge non-conference game Wednesday night, defeating Drew University, which is currently ranked third in the nation in NCAA Division III and first in the Mid-Atlantic Region, 2-1 at home. The Blue Jays improve to 4-1 overall with the win, while Drew drops to 4-1-1 in 2003.
Drew out-shot Etown 19-15, but keeper Michael Ciattei (Jarrettsville, MD/St. Paul's School - Baltimore) made eight saves in the Etown net. Peter Boyer (Haworth, NJ/Dwight-Englewood) made seven saves for Drew. The Blue Jays held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks over Drew.
Brian Healy (Newark, DE/A.I. DuPont) put the Blue Jays ahead 1-0 with a goal at 28:22 off assists from Ryan Wattenschaidt (Jarrettsville, MD/North Harford) and Charlie Haines (Hamilton, NJ/Hun School of Princeton).
Drew challenged frequently early in the second half, and finally got a goal at 63:18 when the ball caromed off Etown defender John Aronowicz (Exton, PA/Downingtown) and bounced over and behind the head of Ciattei for an own goal.
First-year Brennan Reichenbach (Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove Area) made the first goal of his collegiate career an important one as he score the game-winner for Etown at 84:36. Brian Albrecht (Baltimore, MD/Patapsco) assisted.
