ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S SOCCER Thursday, September 25, 2003 Seventh-Ranked Etown Opens Commonwealth Conference Schedule With 6-0 Blowout of Lebanon Valley ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown, currently ranked seventh in the nation and first in the Mid-Atlantic Region, opened its 2003 Commonwealth Conference schedule with a 6-0 blowout of Lebanon Valley in less than ideal weather at home Thursday night. Etown improves to 7-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference with the win, while Lebanon Valley drops to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the Commonwealth with the loss. Elizabethtown dominated possession of the ball throughout the game and ultimately out-shot Lebanon Valley 19-5. The Blue Jays got on the scoreboard at 17:58 when Steve Custer (Baltimore, MD/Dundalk) scored off assists from Brian Albrecht (Baltimore, MD/Patapsco) and Charlie Haines (Hamilton, NJ/Hun School of Princeton). The score became 2-0 in Etown's favor at 25:58 when Brian Healy (Newark, DE/A.I. DuPont) scored on a shot that went off LVC defender Justin Klunk (Hanover, PA/Southwestern). The score remained 2-0 for the remainder of the first half. Haines added a goal of his own at 55:29 off assists from Kevin Weiler (Clive, IA/Valley) and Healy to give the Blue Jays a 3-0 lead. Brian Zalasky (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) scored off another Healy assist at 68:48, giving Etown a 4-0 advantage. Andrew Kummerer (Glenmoore, PA/Coatesville) made the score 5-0 at 76:39 as he dribbled downfield through the mud and rain, lost a shoe in the process, and still managed to drive the ball into the LVC net. Albrecht added a goal to go with his earlier assist at 78:37 to give Etown its final goal. Peter Moore (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) assisted Albrecht's goal. Michael Ciattei (Jarrettsville, MD/St. Paul's School-Baltimore) made three saves in the Etown net to preserve the shutout. Etown will return to action at home Sunday, September 28 against Penn State-Altoona in a 2:00 p.m. game.
