Elizabethtown Advances to Commonwealth Conference Championship Game with 3-0 Win over Moravian; 16th-Ranked Blue Jays to Face 14th-Ranked Messiah for NCAA Tournament Berth Saturday in Grantham

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown advanced to the Commonwealth Conference championship game for the third time in the last four years with a 3-0 conference semifinal win over Moravian at Ira R. Herr Field Wednesday night. The game was sweet revenge for Etown, which, despite being 26-2-1 all time against Moravian, lost in the conference semifinals to the Greyhounds last year and tied them in the regular season this year. Etown, currently ranked 16th in the nation, improves to 16-2-1 overall with the win while Moravian, which went 3-2-2 in the conference this year, concluded its season with a 4-12-3 overall record.

Etown carried a 1-0 advantage into halftime following a tightly played first half where the Blue Jays out-shot Moravian 8-5. Casey Moore (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal for the Blue Jays at 32:22 in a scrum in front of the net. He was assisted by Timothy Filewicz (Wenonah, NJ/Deptford) and Charlie Haines (Hamilton, NJ/Hun School of Princeton). Etown did not score again until 67:56, when Brennan Reichenbach (Selinsgrove, PA/Selinsgrove Area) buried an assist by Haines, his second of the night, into the Moravian net. Bryan Noll (Fleetwood, PA/Oley Valley) scored the final goal of the game at 74:45. Etown out-shot Moravian 4-2 in the second half, and 12-7 for the game.

Michael Ciattei (Jarrettsville, MD/St. Paul's School-Baltimore) made four saves in the Etown net to earn the shutout, and Vinny Nasuta made six saves in the goal for Moravian.

In Wednesday night's other Commonwealth Conference semifinal game, top-seeded Messiah, currently ranked 14th in the nation, defeated fourth-seeded Susquehanna 5-1, meaning that the second-seeded Blue Jays will travel to play Messiah in Grantham Saturday for the conference title at 8:00 p.m. The winner of the conference championship receives an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III tournament. Ticket prices for the conference championship are $4.00 for adults, $3.00 for senior citizens, $2.00 for students, and free for children under six.
